Anton Alvarez takes part in the group survey Tout est en ordre, on view at Institut suédois in Paris from September 2 until October 9, 2026.
At the Institut suédois, Alvarez will produce part of his work in situ using his machine, transforming the creative process into a performance open to the public. His sculptures will then join the exhibition alongside fashion designs and other works, as though they, too, were figures occupying the space. For Alvarez, technique never takes precedence over creation; rather, it becomes a sculptural language in its own right.
At the intersection of art, design and engineering, Anton Alvarez has spent more than a decade developing a practice centred on inventing machines capable of producing their own forms. His famous extrusion machines produce monumental ceramic sculptures whose curves appear almost organic.
Blending art and fashion, the exhibition Tout est en ordre exhibition explores one of the cornerstones of Swedish culture: a collective sense of order, restraint and neutrality. The exhibition seeks neither to celebrate nor to reject this ’good taste’, but to look at it from new angles – to reveal how these norms shape bodies, behaviours and imaginations.
